The undersigned are among the 70% of Coloradans who prefer a tax on higher incomes over deep cuts to schools, colleges, public health and other public services. Unfortunately, because COVID-19 prevented the Fair Tax Colorado ballot measure (Initiative 271) from reaching the ballot, Colorado's voters will not have the opportunity to act on those values.
To make matters worse, Proposition 116 -- the "Real Fair [for Millionaires] Tax" measure -- is officially headed for the ballot. This initiative will result in even more cuts to schools and public services, while delivering tens of millions in tax cuts for Colorado's wealthiest.
We are calling on you for leadership. We ask you to publicly oppose Proposition 116 (previously "Initiative 306") and to do whatever you can, as soon as you can, to give Coloradans the opportunity to vote for a more fair and adequate tax structure that meets the needs of our communities and people – especially the needs of Colorado's children and the heroes who teach them.
