We were moved by this eloquent letter that was drafted by a former school board member and circulated by number of respected civic leaders and former elected officials. We wanted to share it and give others the ability to easily add their names in these critical last days of the election.
To all Coloradans,
Public education funding in Colorado is a disgrace to our beautiful, pioneering state. We have one of the fastest growing economies in the nation and record low unemployment, but we are $2,800 behind the national average in per pupil funding and have over 3,000 teaching positions that are unfilled or filled with unlicensed personnel who can’t support their families or find affordable housing.
As concerned community leaders who value public education, we encourage you to support Amendment 73 on November 6 for the following reasons.
First, here are the facts:
Unfortunately, our state legislature and governor have not had the vision and ability to design a sustainable way to invest in every Colorado student.
Fortunately, grassroots leaders have! An impressive coalition of local people and organizations dedicated to Colorado public school students have not only designed but garnered widespread support for Amendment 73 in every senate district in the state. Here are their endorsements.
Second, this is how Amendment 73 addresses the facts:
Please join us and all our local communities who support public education in our beautiful, pioneering state of Colorado.
Vote YES on Amendment 73.
Sincerely,
